Who is ready for another great stamping technique! This week I am going to go through another simple, basic and wonderful technique to step up your projects. This week is all about inking on embossing folders. This technique is for anyone who owns a Big Shot or Cuttlebug die cut machine. I own the Big Shot from Stampin' Up! and it is wonderful! I can cut and emboss anything from cork, sheet metal, magnetic sheets, fabric and of course paper! If you don't have one...GET ONE :) I entered this card into the Dynamic Duo challenge this week! I used of course the required Cherry Cobbler but I also used one of our new InColors, Midnight Muse.
First you need a sheet of paper 3.75 inches by 5 inches. You want to use a lighter color cardstock for this as you want to be able to see the ink. I used Whisper White but any light color will do.
Next take your ink pad and rub it along the top part of your embossing folder. I rubbed my Midnight Muse ink on the Chevron Embossing Folder on the side that is longer and labeled 'Stampin Up'. Watch out! If you use blue ink, you may turn
into a smurf!
Place your piece of cardstock inside the folder and run through your embossing machine. I didn't put enough ink on mine but it still turned out great. I think it almost looks like a pair of blue jeans and how the color isn't solid.
Add your embellishments and sayings and you have a great card in the end! I sponged my middle saying with midnight muse but I wanted to give it a jeans texture as well. Something different then just sponging the edges and I love the way it turned out! Its hard to tell in the picture but I used the Stampin' Dimensionals to give the jean looking paper a 3D effect on the silver glimmer paper!
